Touro College Berlin: Masterkurs „Psychology, Trauma, Society and the Holocaust“

Im Sommersemester 2018 habe ich den interdisziplinären Masterkurs „Psychology, Trauma, Society and the Holocaust“ am Touro College Berlin konzipiert und Kurse durchgeführt. Der Kurs wird am Touro College und der Freien Universität Berlin im Rahmen des Masterprogramms „Holocaust Communication and Tolerance“ angeboten.

„The Holocaust was the defining societal trauma of the 20th century. All other genocides or large-scale atrocities have been compared to it, with some insisting that no comparison is possible. But how can we view the Holocaust from a psychological perspective? How were the survivors of the Holocaust affected (and their children and grand-children – and now, great grand-children)? How did different countries (Israel, Germany, the United States) deal with the legacy of the Holocaust? And what about memory? How reliable is it and what purpose does it serve?

To understand all of these issues, we must first explore what it means to take a psychological perspective, and what it means to be traumatized.“
